Color palette reference
A dark palette needs more than a black background. Surface steps, warm or cool neutrals, and a controlled accent help users understand depth without making the screen glow everywhere.
Start with a dark neutral that leaves room for a deeper border and a slightly lifted panel. Use color for state and emphasis, not as a substitute for surface hierarchy.
Light text on dark colors can still fail when it is muted or small. Test secondary text and controls, and avoid using pure white for every hierarchy level.
